Penelope
In the pathway of the sun,
In the footsteps of the breeze,
Where the world and sky are one,
He shall ride the silver seas,
He shall cut the glittering wave.
I shall sit at home, and rock;
Rise, to heed a neighbor’s knock;
Brew my tea, and snip my thread;
Bleach the linen for my bed.
They will call him brave.Dorothy Parker

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]Keaton Henson - Charon
from “Dear” (2010)And It seems as though
I’m on my own
And time transcends, oh!
And it seems I speak
like waters leak
And I’m losing friends, oh!
And there’ll be coins on my eyes
There’ll be coins on my eyes
To pay Charon
before I let you near my son
And I don’t feel well
oh, couldn’t you tell,
from the way I touch my face?
My thoughts are low
And I cannot grow
In this small space, oh!
But there’ll be coins on my eyes
There’ll be coins on my eyes
To pay Charon,
before I let you near my son
And I ain’t no,
And I ain’t no,
And I ain’t no Hercules
I ain’t no HerculesSource: nomadismo

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Into My Arms
from “The Boatman’s Call” (1997)I don’t believe in an interventionist God but I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head, to leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you, then direct you into my arms
Into my arms, Oh Lord, into my arms
And I don’t believe in the existence of angels but looking at you I wonder if that’s true
But if I did I would summon them together and ask them to watch over you
To each burn a candle for you, to make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love and guide you into my arms
Into my arms, Oh Lord, into my arms
And I believe in Love and I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path that we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candlew burning and make her journey bright and pure
That she will keep returning always and evermore
Into my arms, Oh Lord, into my arms[dedicated to my parents]

A veces, en octubre, es lo que pasa…
Cuando nada sucede,
y el verano se ha ido,
y las hojas comienzan a caer de los árboles,
y el frío oxida el borde de los ríos
y hace más lento el curso de las aguas;
cuando el cielo parece un mar violento,
y los pájaros cambian de paisaje,
y las palabras se oyen cada vez más lejanas,
como susurros que dispersa el viento;
entonces,
ya se sabe,
es lo que pasa:
esas hojas, los pájaros, las nubes,
las palabras dispersas y los ríos,
nos llenan de inquietud súbitamente
y de desesperanza.
No busquéis el motivo en vuestros corazones.
Tan sólo es lo que dije:
lo que pasa.
